Having stepped into the business in Dearborn, Michigan in 1903, the Ford Motor Company is involved in car production and distribution activities in six continents with 110 plants worldwide.
The Ford Motor Company established itself in Turkey in 1959. Ford Otosan, the name of the Turkish branch, has two production plants Kocaeli and Inonu, and a total capacity of 330,000 commercial vehicles and 65,000 engines. Today, it is the largest commercial vehicle manufacturer and exporter in Turkey.
Thanks to this high level of production, the Ford Otosan Kocaeli Plant has been given the accolade, by the inspectors, of being “one of the best Ford car production plants” of the Ford plants located in Europe which are subject to evaluation.
The high-standards achieved by this plant are also found in the high-quality required by the supply chain. The Ford Otosan Kocaeli plant has been using CIM metal plate embossers from the ME SERIES for a decade, and has recently bought a new solution: the ME 2000, to emboss VIN plates.
The “V.I.N.” or Vehicle Identification Number is composed of an alphanumeric sequence of 17 characters that is unique, and can identify a single vehicle. The sequence has to be embossed and placed in a position on the vehicle that is easy to see and reach, but at the same time on a component that can not be replaced.
In its' client-base CIM has many world’s leading automotive companies that have chosen a CIM solution to identify their vehicles. |
