China Eastern Airlines (CEA) is one of the three major Chinese airline companies, headquartered in Shanghai and with a fleet of 337 aircrafts. CEA operates international, domestic and regional routes with a network of 110 destinations in China, North America, Southeast Asia, Australia, South Africa and Europe. In particular, CEA connects Shanghai with 5 European capitals including Rome, that has been the fifth city in Europe reached by the Chinese Company.
China Eastern Airlines has chosen a set of CIM Embosser 1000 to personalize the "Eastern Miles Cards", leading instrument of its frequent flyer program, aiming at creating more values for members. The card distinguishs the status of members and also allow for special rights and benefits such as the accumulation points reward plan.
To issue the CEA Card the company has recently installed at its headquarters a new set of CIM Embosser 1000 committed to personalizing the cards with embossing technology, before issuing and delivering the cards to the future card holders. The purpose of using embossing technology to personalize a card is to have a high security level against counterfeiting. Any attempts to make changes to the original data embossed on the card, are easily identifiable to the naked eye. In fact the embossing changes the physical characteristics of the material. It means to change a surface from flat to shaped, so that there are regions of the cards that are raised up from a background.
Pro series Embosser 1000 are largely used all over the world in many application fields, and expecially to issue credit and debit cards, where high security standards are required.
